Irish
Northern
Aid
is a nonprofit American organization that provides support for the
Irish Republican movement through political action and educational
outreach, while providing
financial assistance to the families of those imprisoned or killed
for their political beliefs. Working with the charitable trusts
An Cumann Cabhrach in Dublin and the Green Cross in Belfast, INA
helps those people most directly affected by the British occupation
of the six northeastern counties of Ireland. An all-volunteer organization
with local units throughout the country, INA works to bring about
a united and democratic Ireland, independent and free.
Irish
Northern Aid continues to support the struggle for a united Ireland
and works with the Republican movement in Ireland to help former
political prisoners. Through Coiste na n-Iarchimí (The Ex-Prisoners
Coordinating Committee), we provide financial support for organizations
which assist ex-POWs and their families with personal, family and
career counseling, job training and support in fighting the social
and economic discrimination they face because of their status as
veterans. We continue to assist the families of current Republican
political prisoners, as well as, the families of volunteers who
have died for their country.
Irish
Northern Aid works to raise awareness of British misrule in Ireland
by highlighting the colonial and sectarian nature of partition,
which includes human and civil rights abuses of nationalists in
the six counties, collusion by state forces with loyalist death
squads, the denial of the right of the Irish people to national
self-determination. The British military, economic and political
occupation of Ireland is the root cause of the ongoing conflict.
Membership
in INA is open to anyone who desires to see a lasting peace with
justice in an independent and united Ireland. Through local, national
and international campaigns, INA has been at the forefront in supporting
the Republican movement for more than three decades.
